Auto mounting CDs and DVDs in linuxBlack Sun and said: And what should happen if you plug in a USB disk that has a malformed parbreastion table? Or you insert an audio CD? (Audio CDs don't have filesystems and can't be mounted, unless you have the cdfs patch applied, which you probably don't.) Or you insert a blank {CD,DVD}-R(W)? Those can't be mounted for obvious reasons. What *exactly* have you tried? What were the exact results? Without that info, it's going to be difficult to advise you. I'd say to forget automounting because of all the things I mentioned in my first paragraph, but you can do what you like. Just don't be surprised if it fails horribly in weird cases. Partimage Knoppix and permissions GoCoogs It may be as simple as you need to create a *mount* point...or you just didn't define *which* parbreastion ....-dev-sda1 ...ordev-sda2... Put appropriate lines in youretc-fstab , create a desktop shortcut for yourdev-cdrom and-ordev-sdabcd1 . That's right-click on desktop, Then all you have to do is click on an icon on your desktop to mount USB or CD-DVD media.
