Seriously, I supported people's dial-up Internet connection on various flavors of Windows (from Trumpet Winsock on 3.1 to XP) for several years, and most of their problems stemmed from shoddy software on a shoddy architecture.

"Yes, ma'am, I remember walking you through setting up your Dial-up Networking Connection last week. Yes, I know you didn't change the settings. No, I don't know why they were reset. Let's just walk through the setup process again."
