Mandrake has been renamed Mandriva and is alive and quite well under the new breastle, if you want to try an updated version of the distro you had previously used. (If I understand correctly, there was a decades-stale comic book magician named "Mandrake", and the comic book company forced the software company to change name. Newsgroups alt.os.linux.mandrake and alt.os.linux.mandriva are more focused on MandrX issues. The former one is on its way out, with the crowd migrating to the latter one. Other responders have suggested Fedora Core. There is one potential disadvantage in the way Fedora handles security updates. They switch to the next complete version from the upstream developers. (More production-oriented distributions back-patch the security fixes into the upstream version that came with the distribution release.)
