Again, I have nothing against Linux, but I am a realist. Walk into any commercial studio, and mention Ardour or Linux and chances are very good that they will give you a funny look. However, it was not that long ago, maybe 7 years, when mentioning Windows would get you the same look, so things can and will change over time. However, for now, Linux isn't even in the mix.
Linux is a great OS for applications development, servers and so forth because the tools are very inexpensive and in most cases free. Compare that to having to buy toolkits for MS that will cost 1000's of dollars...
Linux makes a decent desktop but lags in plugin support, especially ease of installation of said plugins. With Windows if you don't have the plugin, you are directed to a webpage to install it and in 3 clicks it is done.
