Boot problem, cause , parbreastions renamedHi hope you can help I have a PC with 2 disks, hda contains XP while hdb contains NTFS, FAT32, FC4, Suse, swap and unallocated space. I triple booted using NTLDR by copying the boot sectors from FC4(hdb10) and Suse(hdb6) to files on the C: drive using e.g. dd if=-dev-hdb6 of=-hbd12-suse.lnx bs=512 count=1, then adding suse="suse.lnx" to the boot.ini file in C:. Now the problem I decided to add Ubuntu but made the mistake of using windows disk manager to create new 5GB and 512MB parbreastions from some of the unallocated space on hdb, now FC4 and Suse wont boot, the reason , the linux parbreastions have been renamed, FC4 hdb10 is now hdb5 and Suse hdb6 is now hdb7. Using a live cd I modified lilo.conf for suse and grub.conf for FC4 to point to the new parbreastion names (also for swap), still wont boot. Also tried booting using a grub floppy on manual prompt, still no luck. Banning IPs & MACs after too many unsuccessful login attempts 1976 On Thu, 03 Aug 2006 02:37:16 -0700, composlinuxmisc portsentry is an interactive firewall. If it sees too many attempts on a port, too often, it inserts a rule into the firewall to deny the offending... All I can think of (which I dont know how to do) is: a. Rename the parbreastions back to orginal names. b. Alter the boot sectors to refer to new partion names then copy to C: drive. Any suggestions? TIA Paul
