CD Rom don't work-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I hereby accuse Christian Wansart of stating: What it sounds like you did is download a .img file and then burn that file on a CD so then when you do lsmedia-cdrom0, you get "whatever.img" in the directory listing. An img file is a complete image of a CD made into a single file. You need to tell your CD burning program to create a CD containing the *contents* of the .img file, not the file itself. You don't need to "unpack" the file, you just need to use your CD burning software's image writing mode. If you tell us which CD burning software you are using, we can help further. If you burn the .img file properly, and it is indeed bootable, Minix (or its installer) will be loaded by your system's BIOS before GRUB even runs. If the CD is not bootable, there is really no way for you to boot another operating system from within Linux without using virtual machine software, which doesn't seem to be what you want. - -- S.
