You do realize that you can run any app with any desktop?. Just because a program is a KDE app it doesn't mean that you can't run it under Gnome or run a Gnome application under KDE. For that matter you can use Windowmaker and still run the same applications. The only thing that makes a program a KDE or Gnome app is the toolkit that it was written with. I'm at a complete loss to understand why anyone makes a big deal over KDE vs Gnome since the desktops do so little for you and what they do do is pretty much the same. They both have launch panels that operate identically and that's the only feature that matters. The only difference that I can notice is aesthetics. I use Gnome because it looks better but if I had to switch to KDE for some reason it would have zero effect on my productivity and I'm sure that within a few days I'd stop thinking that it was ugly.
