Changing Systems On MultiBoot Machine 239Per Robert Hull: Because, as one of Edmund Hillary's contemporaries said "Because it's there"....? Actually, more likely because I don't have a clue. Changing Systems On MultiBoot Machine 240 In comp.os.linux.misc, on Thu 26 January 2006 01:56, (PeteCresswell) This is where I think that you are creating problems for yourself. I... The bottom line for me is that I'd like to be able to apply a system image to a parbreastion: same parbreastion many different system images at different times. The idea is to explore different distributions of Linux. If I run into something weird (like mousover behavior and buttons in Fedora), I want to be able to load a couple of other distributions in turn - just to compare behaviors. My Bad... poor choice of words. That was just an example of somebody's config file - intended to communicate the type of file I was talking about.
Sounds to me like, if I learn how to set up a Grub .config file, I should be able to have it present a menu that: 1) Defaults to the "Other" system that will always be installed. 2) Lists all the versions of Linux I've made images of. 3) Boots the desired Linux if I choose it. 4) Fails gracefully (i.e. "No such system..." if I choose a system whose image is not there. -- PeteCresswell
