glibc returns undefined reference _rtld_global_ro
Hi, Im trying to install glibc 2.3.4 on my redhat 9 distro, but glibc does not compile, it returns an undefined reference to rtldglobalro error message...

snip

Take a Konq .war file and change the extension to .tgz and see how Konqueror treats it.

Take a .war file and try to use it in Windoze. Rename it with .tgz and WinZip (integrated with Explorer).

You can easily use the netinstall with the first CD (or with any combination of the first and other CDs...

I don't think Konq's .war files are really what you would clbuttify as Java .war or .jar files. Java is not required and afaik, they are merely "flattened" web archives that are created when you use Konq's

Also note that they are for locally stored files and will not work loaded via http over the net. Eg. open this file with Konq when accessed via the net as compared to how it is treated when saved to local disk before opening with Konq.

automagically loaded. When opened as a .tgz the directory listing is diplayed and you can manually open the index.html with same effect as opening it as a .war file. When opened from the web it's just the raw .tgz compressed file (ie., it is not processed).

Personally, I find this functionality adequate for my uses ;-)

Re: other file formats in Konq, especially MIME types, take a look at how it works in the Control Center's File buttociation page (wherever it things up if you're not familiar with the side effects (learned from my first attempts :-)

It remains a largely manual task to set up anything you want treated specially, but IIRC, the maintainers are working on more complete, more automagic (on the fly) treatment of "most" common file types and to integrate this behavior in other (non-Konq) KDE apps. You might try you can find anything that would provide info.

cheers, prg
