Chris F. A. Johnson wrote good advice on this elsewhere:

When using groups.google.com to reply to a Usenet article, click on "show options" at the top of the article, then click on the "Reply" at the bottom of the article headers. This will quote the previous message in the accepted manner.

? What do you mean "you don't have any option"? You can do whatever you want, including installing Linux From Scratch on this machine.0 But you shouldn't have to do anything but modprobe the appropriate module for your NIC.

Why didn't you provide that info? It might've been useful.

Speling cuonts when dealing with computers. That's "tuxmobil.org" not "tuxmobile.org". What about the other URL? There were many links off tuxmobil.org for the T30, so I'm really surprised that none of them worked for you and-or none of them discussed the Redhat version you're using.

This bears repeating. When you have a laptop, that laptop has a make and model#. Those pieces of info are usually *vital* to getting everything working with Linux. Usually, what works is to go to tuxmobil.org, find your laptop's make and model#, and read as many of the linked pages about that make and model# as you can. After you've understood the info on those pages, you're usually able to make most everything work on that laptop.

Your lack of Linux experience will work against you in the short term, but hey, Read The Fine Manual, Search The Fine Web, and try new things, and pretty soon, you'll have some experience.

0 This action may have consequences, though. Like Joseph Heller said, you have a right to do anything they can't stop you from doing.
