Creating and Referencing linux man pages

Hi all,

I would like to seek some advice regarding man pages in linux. The scenario is as such, where I would actually have some customised commands which I would like to include in my own man pages. I have already read up on the format which man pages accept, ie (.TH, etc), and have created one sample page. My questions are as follows:

I have named the man page sample.1, and I would like to reference the sample command using man. I have tried doing : man -l sample (this references local directory), as well as man -Mpath-to-man-page sample

However, the above does not work for me. So is it possible to actually create a man page and make linux reference it? I have also tried the MANPATH option, but does not work either. I think something must be amiss here.

VectorLinux or SUSE
Heya, I'm trying to decide on which Linux distro I want to use. My Experience...

The next question is that is it possible to include multiple commands documented in 1 man page file? ie. I would like to have 2 commands documented in 1 man page file, and when I reference the first command, only the first command shows up, and vice versa.

Thanks in advance for all help provided. Thanks!

Regards
