Curious Firefox error 337On Tue, 07 Feb 2006 09:33:04 +0000, Robert Hull snip of childish bickering by both sides Then you address must be a valid one? If an email is sent to legitimate, and I'm perfctly willing to take your word about it, then my mistake and I again apologize. But it certainly LOOKS like a typical incorrect munge and I would be very suprised - even amazed - if any message sent to it actually went through. From the looks of it, offhand I'd say it would pbutt syntax but fail a SMTP check, but admittidly I'm guessing. Not worth the time to actually test it, I'll take your word. But if NOT a valid address, well, one can Google any number of entries about this. The one below, picked for no particular reason, is from the 'Email-Munging' section on netmeister.org: "...one should not simply use an invalid email-address, since this way it either puts more load on your system or on the originating mailserver. In general it is considered polite to use only the suffix ``.invalid'' for your email-address, so as to make it clear that your address is in fact not a genuine one." This is useful not only for politeness, but for filtering, at least for some uers.

Started in sometime in '85 with a '286, 1200 baud US Robotics external modem and a Compuserve account. Wasn't many ISPs to choose from then. You should be able to tell from my headers that while I may be no guru I have at least some idea what I'm doing. It's only if it's truly a valid email address. Otherwise, your address is 'Netiquette-challenged. Curious Firefox error 338 I've already apologized if it is legitimate - and seems it *may* be. At a glance it looked like a common poor munge and it would fail SMTP (I still think it might... This whole thread is what's gotten ridiculous. I'm done apologizing for my crime. I've done my punishment. I'm granting myself parole, contigent on never, EVER again even thinking "hmmm...maybe I shoulda posted that in a different group?"
