It's amazing how many excuses and justifications the COLA-Nuts have in their collective bag of tricks. With 500+ distributions of Linux, there is always an excuse waiting in the wings. If not x then y goto z if not a gosub k if not q and on and on... And when this topic of 500+ distributions is broached they cry choice!!! Now that's the funniest of them all. The Japanese auto makers figured out a long time ago that offering a kitchen sink approach to their autos was not only costly, in terms of dollars AND TIME, but that it tends to confuse the consumer. And speaking of confusion, Linux is the ultimate ball of confusion! Bad net IO performance probably due to misconfiguration 4244 Wolfgang Draxinger Make sure DMA transfers are enabled on both machines. Check the CPU consumption for SYS as well as USER. On some systems, SYS is not included in total CPU use and would... It sucks for the user. It sucks for the support desk. It sucks for the programmers writing the software. Imagine being an Open Source programmer and now having to ensure that your program actually works with 500+ different distributions. Can you say NIGHTMARE? How about a hardware manufacturer who offers Linux drivers for their product? How the hell are they going to handle tech support for 500+ different versions of Linux? And the Linux fools wonder why hardware manufacturers are reluctant to support Linux? That is a key reason. Writing the driver cost money, but SUPPORTING IT cost MUCH MORE! Then we have theconfigure, make make install argument. Yea sure, that one works IF:::::: You have all the CORRECT LIBRARIES, right down to the .x.x.01 version installed. The CORRECT kernel source, again RIGHT DOWN TO the x.x.01 version. ALL the CORRECT DEVELOPMENT TOOLS installed, again down to x.x.01 version. And so forth, and most people will NOT have that installed because the typical DEFAULT installations of popular distributions do NOT install that stuff.... So .-configure etc is nice in theory, but rarely works in practice from the getgo. Oh yea, I forgot, EVERYTHING works for the Linux nuts in this group who at the same time seem to always have the most obtuse Windows problems. Maybe that's the reason why Windows users post here? To expose some of the insane amounts of bullpoo that seems to be churned up from the Linux users. ANYONE who has tried Linux knows full well that 95 percent of what pbuttes for truth in COLA as far as Linux is concerned, is pure bullpoo. See Rapskat for further studies................... Peter
