Debian Sarge: WLAN card freezes KDE panel, K3B, and OpenOfficeHi, after switching from SuSE 8.2 to Debian Sarge on my Acer Aspire 1300 (Kernel 2.6.8-2), I'm quite happy with it and everything is working well. Well, not quite. When I use a PCMCIA WLAN card, KDE's panel occasionally freezes for 2-3 minutes, then is back again and doing well. Also, as long as the card is active, K3B and OpenOffice will only display their splash screens and then freeze. I can still use the desktop icons to start applications, or switch applications with Alt-Tab. This happens only after buttigning an IP address via DHCP. Inserting the card, then modprobing the kernel module and activating it with ifconfig and iwconfig doesn't do anything to the panel, K3B or OpenOffice, but as soon as I run dhclient, K3B and OpenOffice won't start. saving data "stored" in badblocks Did you: -- run badblocks correctly -- run e2fsck -c or e2fsck -cc -- confirm disk health state with smartd (smartmontools) -- test disk with... I have two WLAN cards, a Minitar with custom-build rt2400 driver, and a Netgear 401 for which I use the orinococs driver, and it happens with both. Reinstall lilo to hda, using hda lilo.conf Hello. Before you go on, if you may know how to do what I need... I had syslgd reporting every bit of information, but there appeared to be no connection (in time) between any of these events. Any hints will be appreciated! Enno -- Remove "REMOVEME" for PM replies
