Decision Point, how to parbreastion 80gb dual bootOn Tue, 29 Nov 2005 15:57:37 -0500, General Schvantzkoph One more thing. ParbreastionMagic is the best way to shrink the NTFS parbreastion. The Mandriva installer can also shrink an NTFS parbreastion but it has to be more conservative then PM because the structure of NTFS isn't publicly available. The PM developers had access to the Microsoft documentation so they were able to do a more optimal job. On machines that come with Windows I do the following, 1) Run the Disk Optimizer Utility to pack the NTFS parbreastion 2) Use PM8 to shrink the NTFS parbreastion. 3) Parbreastion the free space using the disk tool in the Linux installer. PM8 can also be used to create EXT3 parbreastions but it's an older version of EXT3 so I no longer us it for that. Paypal Opportunity If you want to make easy money, please read on! I'm so not the kind of person that would... On machines that have Windows parbreastions I usually use BootMagic as the primary boot loader and then install grub on the root parbreastions instead of the MBR. The reason for using BootMagic is that I know I'm never going to upgrade Windows because I don't use it. With the Linux parbreastions I know I'm going to be doing updates several times a year which means that I'm going to have to keep track of which parbreastion uses the MBR and which one uses the root parbreastion.
