Linux is everywhere full stop.

Bullpoo. That ridiculous story was done to rest here months ago - can't you at least find something aoriginal to troll with?

Again, bullpoo. If anything, it handles it better, because it is far more flexible and secure, and can be adapted to the needs of your company, rather than the company having to adapt to Windows' way of working.

We've heard that nonsense, too. It's bogus.

I am sure there is

You're making an buttumption you haven't proven. On the contrary, Linux *is* making great strides on the desktop.

And chances are that it will never make them, unless

RedHat * and (? You're behind the times, chum.

They claim is that they can't provide this

RedHat is a commercial business, they have to be wary of legal grey areas. The great thing about Linux is that if one distro doesn't provide the functionality, for whatever reason, someone will step up and provide it. So, what's your problem?

There are more

Wrong. Most average users probably won't ever do a recompile, but some may feel bold enough to give it a try. And many power users will, if it suits them to.

But with modern distros, it's not a necessity, since the latest kernels provide all the functions most users are likely to need or want.

You're out of date.

One word. Xorg.

They usually are.

Then you don't have a modern distro.

In Windows, you get the 'Add New Hardware' wizard (or

Martin That's because a lot of the Websites are badly written, are for IE only. Sometimes it just requires the changing of the browser identifier, but some sites seem to be...

Then you haven't looked.

If a camera is supported in Linux, you don't even need to do that, you just plug it in and navigate to the pics, or use your faaavourite image viewer

Yes, you certainly are wrong. Why are you talking about outdated stuff like RedHat 9?

Once again, why are you whining about RedHat 9? Get a modern distro like FC3 or Mandriva and most if not all of these problems will disappear.

There's Gnome, and there's KDE, the major desktop environments in Linux. They're each integrated in themselves. Stick to one or the other and you won't have too many problems with integration.

You haven't even begun to make a case for that conclusion.
