Desktop Linux Where is it hiding Is this group a joke or something 4154

I'm a linux user, linux will not conquer windows because the general mbuttes are to lazy to learn how to use a computer all they want is some thing they can use with ease of use kde is a better environment than windows hands down but how many general users would make use of these functions.

Example playing a dvd movie linux will play any region dvd windows won't but how many people will take the time to get the dvd players to work for it does take time to get the dvd players to work

They don't care and as most of the web sites are written for windows linux will fail here to, all thou linux has made inroads here over the years.

As for viruses linux wins hands down again, don't have to worry about them but the average user does not care.

If linux was first to launch the desktop and windows came after, windows would not stand a chance, but windows was first and theres nothing linux can do about that.

linux is for the thinker, the ones who like to solve problems, windows is for a user IE a monkey with no brains, because there are more monkeys the thinkers windows will win. A linux user stands more chance of fixing a windows pc than the average windows user.

Here is the funny thing out of all the pc users how many users really know what they are doing in the linux world and windows world

The funny thing is this i know people who are still using win98 they think xp is crap but like every thing, after a while they get bloated and this applies to windows and linux.

Any one with a brain will use the best of each os but the fool will fight over which one is best, both have there good points and both have there flaws.

Windows is still in the front but linux is snapping at it's heel's we will just have to see if linux will over take windows.

One of the biggest flaws in linux is the drivers, you need to bring out new distros to handle the new hardware and that is a problem. for if you brought a new version of linux every six months you would end up spending more money than windows. As for me i am an average user with limited knowledge but use linux 90% of the time and thats how it's going to stay

I know enough to take packages from old distros and use them on the newer distros for how many of you linux users use staroffice 6 i take that off suse 8.0 pro upgrade disk and use it on suse 9.2 and various other packages. I can still use staroffice 5.2 both are better than openoffice but thats a personal preferance.

Thats my 2 cents worth thats if it's worth any thing.
