DialUP problem Xandros3.0 deluxe and Mandrake 10.1Hi all, VERY basic linux system 242 In a message on 26 Jan 2006 08:35:59 -0800, wrote : You might want to look at XINU -- this is an *educational* toy UNIX kernel. Xandros 3.0 deluxe, this one's Debian. 4. modem ISDN ext on comm 1. VERY basic linux system 243 On Thursday 26 January 2006 21:50, xlar54 stood up and spoke the following words to the mbuttes incomp.os.linux.misc...: Your reasons forplonking- is that even possible with Google Groups? - Grant Edwards are totally unfounded... 1. kppp works nice ('internet network device' too) on RH8, started Mozilla mail, for the 1st time (set with 'remember pbuttword' option in the security section), got message 'pppd OK'from ISP, blinking-dwnload-upload in kppp 'detail' panel), commanded 'Get messages for the account' and download starts, well.... everything seems OK ;) - Almost everything OK, the problem with SBLive!-sound. During the installation I've noticed a message 'dev-dsp disabled...', but I'll go trough Google, as I know there were some talks a year, even more ;) 2. 15 minutes after, I intentionally destroyed RH and installed Mandrake. - Sound OK :) kppp dial-up works nice, (internet 'network device' dial-up too), but, Mozilla mail is waiting for something? As there's no way to put pop3 pbuttword into the mail account, supposed ISP mail (or something) server waits for my pbuttword, so pbuttword security, already mentioned, or something else goes wrong? VERY basic linux system 244 TRUTHFUL? Are you kidding me? Read what he said: Yes, some are. Not that you could reach that conclusion... 3. I tried Xandros distro yesterday. There's also 'Internet network device' for dial-up, but, in the 'modem device' section ttSx preset to '7' ! and grayed and doesn't work w this configuration! - No options to test modem like in kppp. (normally I set to ttS0). Generally, Redhat IS older, but common details are well done (reliable). The others, nice make-up&multimedia, but after a short time I've definitely Thanks for your help, vCarak -- 1-25-2006 15:06:57
