I am often moved to speak up and very rarely told to get over it. Perhaps because as with my last job, I see the handwriting on the wall and adjust course on my own before any (re)statement of the obvious is required. You just have to be more selective about the swine you cast pearls before.
I'll share this with you: corporate America talks a lot about their older workforce in glowing terms for PR, but behind the scenes they cannot move our collective butts out the door fast enough. Maybe you've missed out on all the fun as mostly self-employed, but you're still considered just old and in the way (mostly) for a culture which worships youth and money.
But I digress...
If you are in a mid-life crisis, you're not the first. So get moving, and get engaged in something you can't wait to get to, each day you aren't in the obituraries.

bill Linux doesn't shine when it comes to multimedia. But then, not all stuff you need to playback various formats can be distributed for free. So, very simply put, multimedia on...
I contribute in my very small way to Linux-FOSS, and don't let peripheral issues like sorry documentation or buggy drivers divert me from having an incredibly fun time LEARNING SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY ABOUT LINUX-FOSS.
