Thanks for your kindly reply, but I want to know that HDD's Ultra DMA Problem of SiS 5571 chipset, not USB problem.

In general, SiS5571 chipset has Disk Controller Problem related to Ultra

Please advise me about above problem!

I also want to use my old pentium PC (200Mhz Pentium MMX) with SiS5571 Motherboard.

2.6.15.6 has a note for the SiS 5571 in drivers-ide-pci-sis5513.c , so you should be able to use 2.6. You should use 2.4 at least, because 2.2's USB support sucked horribly. And the real development is happening in 2.6, so new hardware will be less well supported in 2.4.

than 512M, it's time to spend $300 and get a new Athlon64 board and CPU. You'll be able to use all the PCI cards in your old machine in the new machine.

Kernel 2.2.x is available ??? or 2.4.x ??? or 2.6.x ???

I know that SiS5571 chipset is very old and sucks. But, I want to use my old motherboard serviceablly!

Please advise the verion of 2.2.x or 2.4.x.
