Do so called "Linux advocates" ever address the points of the topic 4186Rockerto wrote, it's so funny reading this from the sidelines, thank you to all for your wonderful personal commentary on each other, got some great comeback lines for the wags at work. REMOVE IE 4190 Internet Explorer != DCOM. Bullpoo. Internet Explorer != protocol. Therefore, I may come and sneak in your computer since I added something that I can get past. Nice... my point is, i am totaly ambutted by the depth and versitility of os's with a unix flavor and how far they have come. not only is linux free, customable, has a supportive (feverish) community. and like a living being, always evolving. how do we not know that code from unix-linux has not been used within windows? how about full socket support under win xp? why does it need it? and it's a unix tool for packet manipulation? Do you take the word of a corperation that has bereched anti-trust and swallowed and f***ed over competion? (whats that about the blind leading the blind) most freethinking intelligent people would like to know how things work, to have a goal to fix things that dont. Are we not wanting a world that has a free line of communication? look what compibreastion has done for that, windows wont talk to linux, email is full of spam, need x program to see zx document and so on, what a mess........... if i want to play a new pc game, i buy the hardware, load win, and frag the f***ers. if i want to be compadible with my friends i use the old winnower. if i want the (easy?) way, ill use win. but i want to be secure, i want to know i have control, i want an os with a strong backbone. it aint easy, you have to start using your brain (and sometimes it can hurt) i know how hard it was to load redhat onto my old dell inspiron 3200 (266mhz,64meg,6gig) and learn how to stuff it. and then not use it for a year. now i run a web-mail-ftp-database server on an old amd700 with fedora core3 and i can tweak any part of it and update all or part of it as new stable pakages come online. how? by learning, and reading and asking and using my small brain. and if i can do it........!!!!!!!! Thankyou, your've been a great audience. Do so called "Linux advocates" ever address the points of the topic 4187 You shake when you laugh, like a bowl full of jelly. What shell are you using?
