Dual boot Do I need to install DSL softwares in both Winows XP & LinuxWhen you installed Mandriva 2006, (how) did you configure your network stuff? It can only be almost automagic. You have to enter a few things manually. I installed Mandriva 2006 on my home machines a couple of months ago (after using HatRed then MandrX since 2000). Dual booting should not be relevant. While-when you're running Linux, there's not much harm the Losedows side can cause. If you have a router between the DSL modem (or maybe in the same box as the modem), does it use static or dynamic local IP addresses? I use static locally, but many-most people use DHCP locally. First is that "these are company supplied systems, and we don't... Bring up the MandrX Control Center or enter 'mcc' or 'su -c mcc' (without the quotation marks) in a terminal, then navigate to configure networking. It's pretty simple. If you have difficulties, post back specific details, including exact cut-and-past error messages and such. (Oh, it will likely be pointed out to you very soon that Linux does not use drive letters. If disk configuration had mattered, it would have been more useful to state whether they were separate physical disk drives, different parbreastions, etc. However, that's mostly irrelevant to network setup.) -- Robert Riches (Yes, that is one of my email addresses.)
