I don't see this as any surprise. Bendered has it right. The Evil Empire is on the move. They want the One Ring and they will resort to any devious slimey unscrupulous ruse it takes to get it. But, bendered is wrong on one point. It ain't Ballmer's doing. Ballmer is still just a stooge. Anyone who thinks Bill has retired into benevolent benign philanthropy is a fool. He's the obsessed one and he's still the one in charge and all the money and PR spin to the contrary is not going to change this leopard's spots.

As for the invitation to join in talks with M$, is there really anyone out there so naive as to believe this tripe. Ballmer is perfect as the wormtongued toadie issuing honey dripping lures into the web. It's not surprisig to see Novell, the once hugely successful network company grabbing at any straw --Unix, Linux, and now M$-- to keep from slipping into insignificance and ruin. M$ is their last gasp. But, they will end up just like SCO. Another empty husk sucked dry and tossed aside in Bill's insatiable drive to dominate the digital universe.

The only thing that will save Linux from complete borg-like buttimulation and destruction is the rest of the civilized World. They don't have the US's corrupt legislative and legal collusion which enables the evil that is M$. Little by little, the rest of the planet is rejecting Microsoft's dreams of World domination and economic imperialism.

OK, I'm tired now. Squable amongst yourselves. ;)
