I recommend that libs are are stripped with the --strip-debug option Every time i strip the libs with --strip-all or --strip-unneeded it farts up the lib. YMMV Also Ok, I use linux from scratch. X11 xterm window breastle The escape sequence "-0330;string-007" changes the X window and icon breastles to "string". The problem with simply... Bzip2 (version 2-1.02) installation dependencies are: bash, binutils, coreutils, diffutils gcc, glibc and make. This is needed when building a LFS and I don't know if it apply's to gentoo but...... since bzip2 depends upon glibc, you must be careful when you build it. If you use another distro-system to build the new system. You must be sure that bzip2 is compiled and linked against the proper glibc. This usually involves fixing up the gcc spec file so the it points to the right dynamic linker. I modify the gcc spec file to link against the glibc that will be used on the new build. Glibc gets built twice once for the "tools" once for the soon to be live system. I build a set of "tools" then use those to build the final system. Do you have more than one glibc in use? Maybe possibly from what gentoo uses to "kick start build" the system? BTW........ You may want to have a look at linuxfromscratch.org There may be something there you can learn from. -- Tayo'y Mga Pinoy
