Fedora Core 4 mouse problem

I just installed fedora core 4 (actually upgraded from existing FC 1).

But now my mouse is not working as it should. It looks like CPU load is 100% (it is not) and if I move mouse, mouse pointer starts moving with a delay, so when I stop moving mouse pointer overshoots position I wanted it to go, and I have to move it back - mouse is practically unusable. Once after reboot mouse wouldn't work at all, and once worked as it should, but other times is unusable. I found one line invar-log-messagess:

psmouse.c: Wheel Mouse at isa0060-serio1-input0 lost synchronization, throwing 3 bytes away.

Mouse is optical PS-2 Genius eye, and works OK with another FC 1

Any pointers of what to do? I am unable to install nVidia driver for my graphic card (see my other post). Could it be related do a "nv" driver I use that came with a FC installation DVD?
