Filesystem corrupts after power failure 2361Hmmm, interesting one. We do have them set to auto power on when power is recovered, 300 miles is a long way to drive in order to press a power button!! Hadn't thought of that issue above. Re UPSs, these are small firewall systems, that we sell for about £400. It's hard to persude someone to pay for a UPS for them as well..... Filesystem corrupts after power failure 2362 I have three systems at home using ext3. Having been the one who discovered the kernel panic local DoS issue fixed by... I've seen one toast the boot sector, some rapid GRUB revision got it working again, made more fun by the software raid. Another one died and gave errors on boot about not being able to find thetmp parbreastion and then dumped me out to a rescue console. Booting on a live CD showed the file systems intact, ie they could be mounted individually but wouldn't boot. I'm not a linux expert, so after an hr or so of trying to fix it I just rebuilt it from scratch. easy cause it was only a firewall, but not so easy on a mail server..... We also have some semi-embedded systems that have died after power failures as well. I still hold that linux seems to handle sudden power failures far worse than windows, but it seems that there is no way to improve this by using a different filesystem-configuration then? hmmmmm! mark
