Firewall security: Problems with simple Samba file share 3587

It has you handcuffed to the wall!

How come you don't have capability to send packets? Or is that just the outgoing rules on your firewall blocking it?

From outside I see only the following as blocked.

7-tcp closed echo 9-tcp closed discard 11-tcp closed systat 13-tcp closed daytime 15-tcp closed netstat 19-tcp closed chargen 25-tcp closed smtp 37-tcp closed time 53-tcp closed domain 79-tcp closed finger 111-tcp closed rpcbind 113-tcp closed auth 139-tcp closed netbios-ssn 513-tcp closed login 514-tcp closed shell 587-tcp closed submission 640-tcp closed unknown 643-tcp closed unknown 727-tcp closed unknown 739-tcp closed unknown 782-tcp closed hp-managed-node 992-tcp closed telnets ...

The rest seem to be reachable, including telnet, ftp, http, and so on.

But I don't know who's rejecting echo and discard and systat and daytime and netstat, etc! Not me. That's annoying. It must be the uni. I wish they wouldn't do that.

I don't use any. I don't mind people trying to guess my pbuttword, at six seconds the try.

Very few.
