First time I've needed fsck.reiserfs 4300Inetd question Knoppix 3.8 HD install and apt-get upgraded I have been pounding on making SWAT work but it would only...
The client has two Shuttle SN95G5s. The crash-prone one is only a few months old. The other one dates from about last week. The hard drives in the crash-prone one were also replaced last week, but they seem to have made little difference to its reliability. I did identical clean SuSE 9.3 installs on both just a few days ago. The only temperature monitor I can find is proc-acpi-thermalzone-THRM-temperature, which currently reports "40 C" on both machines. I've heard of the "sensors" package, but I gather that's fiddly to calibrate properly. I opened it up to have a look before doing the abovementioned system install, and the inside looked clean and new. At the client's place doing the rsync of all the data from another machine, at one point it was crashing every few minutes, then it stayed up for about an hour before spontaneously rebooting. After that, it stayed up for the few more minutes it took to finish the transfer. After I brought it home, I did another rsync of all that data onto the second Shuttle, and it completed the whole transfer without a problem.
