Your questions and suggestions are tendentious and rest on erroneous buttumptions. If I seem annoyed (below), it's nothing personal: We codgers just wish people like you would bother to do their homework, first.

Huh? I've been using my TiVo for the better part of a decade, and not used those commands there even once.

Don't tell me you didn't know that every TiVo is a full-blown Linux computer with a simplified user interface for its specialised role. You did know that, didn't you?

Not as tutorials -- since, as everyone knows, manpages are quick references (not even full references).

Complaining that manpages make poor tutorials makes about as much sense as unpleasant womaning that your Aston-Martin has poor flight characteristics compared to your Cessna. In other words, you would be making a category error.

Unfortunately, your point was a bit moronic, along with being clear. Users who would be happier staying within graphical shells should stay within graphical shells. They exist -- and not just on TiVos.
