GRUB question 2252GRUB question 2254 Note: I hope you are not testing this on a modern computer - 64bit+dual core, it will not work. I recently tested, Dos, Freedos... Allan Adler missive deleted for brevity Okay, I decided to try following method on my computer. I formated mydev-hda1 in linux console. I typed: 'mkfs.vfatdev-hda1' I mounted 'mountdev-hda1mnt-hda1' I typed 'df -h' and It gave me following - I am only listing hda1 for brevity. Filesystem Type Size Used Avail Use% Mounted ondev-hda1 vfat 72G 16K 72G 1%mnt-hda1 I added following inboot-grub-menu.lst breastle Dos root (hd0,1) savedefault makeactive chainloader +1 ~ I reboot my computer - windows95-dos cd in dvd-rom. I look into to c:-- everything fine went into dos-cd "cd e:-dos" and I typed "sys a: c:" Note: bootable DOS-CD create a virtual a:drive - if you want to use your real-physical floppy drive - it's b: I removed the bootable cd from dvd-drive -- restarted my computer. From grub menu I selected dos - Voila! It worked. You can try this on your computer - it should work. You don't have to worry about MBR issue. Nevertheless, you should always have a bootable floppy-disk, usb-key, etc.. If, I understand correctly you are trying to install DOS through Linux. I don't know how to do it - I hope someone else will be able to help.. GRUB question 2253 Pardon my naivete, but is the tilde part of what you added toboot-grub-menu.lst ? Also, if the DOS parbreastion isdev-hda1, why did you... PS: If you did find a way to install dos though linux - please post your method on this news-group. I love to test it myself - and I am sure other users like to try it too.
