Thanks everyone for your answers. I posted the same request to a few groups whenever I...

Isn't that good programming practise, anyway?

Read the comment above.

Absolutely, Change Logs are important to me too. So in reply to your "Copy-paste isn't diff, and it does not let you know what you've modified since the last version", if someone picks up my code, changes and reasons for changes are documented in code and README file accompanying it.

Its not that I should. I will if I want to!! You can suggest me, not force me.

I document changes in my code and in a README file.

README file.

Agreed.

There's no beloved, if you read carefully. Grow up. Its just my way of doing it and I have no favorites in that regard. If they were my beloved, I wouldn't even entertain your promotion of Emacs and VC (even if I like the concept of VC). Is it hard to understand that I will try VC when need be but for my small projects, backups work just fine?

What seems difficult to you might not seem difficult to me and vice versa. I find it easier to just jump to the latest named-dated file-directory under my project tree.

You are seemingly explaining the difficulties in what I am doing whereas I dont find it difficult. I will try VC when I want to and when I feel the need. Are we understanding each other well?
