She uses an iBook though and hasn't had any troubles. However, I can see where... Going To University Leave Linux Home! Just out of curiosity, is English your first language? I would have thought it would have been more appropriate to say "I'm currently an University student, or ... I'm attending such and such university studying PRE-LAW... SNIP Well Josh, glad you asked. You shouldn't. Choose the right tool for the right job. Of course if you were smurt enough to buy a large enough laptop or desktop, you could always dual boot your pc. Josh, just to give you a free clue, I was involved in the grbutt roots attempt at getting the large 4 RDBMS manufacturers (Informix, Oracle, Sybase and IBM) to port to Linux back in the late 90's. Your feable attempt at baiting is dangerous because you're pointing to a situation where your text book manufacturers are supplying you with clbutt material aimed at the two most prevailant OSs on Campuses today. Hence the dual boot solution. As a manufacturer, you have to weigh the costs of providing software for a specific platform against the potential revenue gains that you could hope to achieve. To many, a Linux desktop is a losing proposition. Thats a sad truth that occurs when you have a monopoly, hence the litigation against microsoft. BTW, Gates et al, fear Linux. There's a very good reason for that. The exercise for the student... that would be you... is to try and figure out why he is afraid of Linux.. ;-) Oh and one last note... There is most likely more Linux on your campus that you can count. You just don't see it, but its there. -- We NO like SPAM. Remove to get my e-mail addy.
