A good idea. My main box has a low-efficiency filter at the front where the three main intake fans are (120mm x 25mm, 80mm x 25mm, and 40mm x 25mm). There is very little dust inside the box after a year or more of use other than some very fine grit at the bottom. I do need to clean the input filter about once a month. Not sure why. I did put duct tape over some of the little holes on the back so that air exits the box only where the leaks are, and through the exhaust fans.

No harm in that. If you use high efficiency air filters where the box designer buttumed no filters, you will need more effective fans to overcome the resistance of the filters.

If you need to. I use the Intel-supplied heat sinks, processor wind tunnels, and 60mm x 38mm variable speed temperature controlled fans on my two 3.06GHz Xeon processors. There is no room for bigger fans or bigger heat sinks there. The mother board is 12" x 13" and pretty well fills the case down there.

On Wed, 24 Aug 2005 10:34:45 -0400, Jean-David Beyer Thanks for the reply .. well the "problem I am having" is Windows ... this will cure it. I've been slowly converting to...

You might wish to use a metal cover to reduce radiation going in or out.

If you need a bigger power supply. I have a 650 watt power supply, but also 6 hard drives (4 10,000rpm ones and 2 7,200rpm ones), and stuff. Is this for the fun of it? Or to cure a specific problem you are having?
