Handtweaking the CPU fan speed 2466Floyd L. Davidson Quite the opposite. Indeed you claimed that it could be done but you also claimed that it was only possible under some pretty tight and specific circunstances. You cite having the right hardware and doing the right custom tweaking. Well, I'm running Kubuntu's default linux kernel and that kernel doesn't even have a decent ACPI support (check the bug report on the root post). So, if that kernel doesn't even manage to keep quite a lot of computer models from overheating then I believe it is safe to say that it wouldn't be possible to achieve what you describe. And I know it thanks to you. Handtweaking the CPU fan speed 2467 Floyd L. Davidson According to your statement, it is only possible with the combination of the right hardware and the right software. Well, my hardware isn't the right hardware (it's an Acer laptop) and the... So as it is easy to see, you really helped. Unfortunately you were a bit of a jerk in the process. Tell me, was the name calling really necessary or appropriate? Honestly, was my comment out of order? Did I offended you in any way by stating that possibly something couldn't be done with linux?
Congratulations on the choice of machine. It must be a pleasure to work with-on it. Best regards and in the future please avoid name-calling and launching unprovoked personal attacks. Rui Maciel
