Hard Drive Mounted ReadOnlyHi, I am running Linux Knoppix 3.6 from CD-ROM on the Dell Laptop Albreastude option, but it is still read-only after it was mounted . The following is capture of end of the cammands to mount the hard driver. uid=1000(knoppix) gid=1000(knoppix) groups=1000(knoppix),20(dialout),21(fax),22 (voice),24(cdrom),25(floppy),26(tape),27(sudo),29(audio),30(dip),44(video),60(g ames),100(users),106(usb)dev-root on type ext2 (rw)dev-scd0 oncdrom type iso9660 (ro)dev-cloop onKNOPPIX type iso9660 (ro)ramdisk onramdisk type tmpfs (rw,size=405436k)proc-bus-usb onproc-bus-usb type usbdevfs (rw,devmode=0666) automount(pid482) onmnt-auto type autofs (rw,fd=4,pgrp=482,minproto=2,maxprot o=4)dev-sda1 onmnt-sda1 type vfat (rw,uid=1000,gid=1000)dev-root on type ext2 (rw)dev-scd0 oncdrom type iso9660 (ro)dev-cloop onKNOPPIX type iso9660 (ro)ramdisk onramdisk type tmpfs (rw,size=405436k)proc-bus-usb onproc-bus-usb type usbdevfs (rw,devmode=0666) automount(pid482) onmnt-auto type autofs (rw,fd=4,pgrp=482,minproto=2,maxprot o=4)dev-sda1 onmnt-sda1 type vfat (rw,uid=1000,gid=1000)dev-hda1 onmnt-hda1 type ntfs (rw) -rw------- 1 root root 190 Mar 9 2004 boot.ini chmod: changing permissions of `boot.ini': Read-only file system Parbreastioning tape The problem with tape is that one can only write at the end to keep the previous data intact. No files can be replaced on the tape without ruining anything beyond that. One solution to... Note: 1.dev-hda1 is mapped to the hard drive 2. boot.ini is an example file that shows that the file system is still read-only. Another example can be to edit a file (with vi) and write back, it will complains about "can't write" because read-only file system. Did I miss anything when I mounted the hard drivedev-hda1? Anyone can shed light on this. Thanks!
