Having Trouble with Protools and Linux. 1063wrote on 30 Apr 2006 15:20:45 -0700 Hmm..."Pro Tools" shows up on Google as "the industry's leading digital audio production tools". The website offers Mac OS9 and Win98-Me versions. This tells me two things: 1 this particular manufacturer hasn't quite gotten around to writing a Linux version yet, and 2 this particular manufacturer hasn't quite gotten around to writing a Windows XP version yet. It gets weirder. I also see Avid Pro Tools LE. System requirements suggest WinXP Pro w-SP1. Therefore this is inappropriate for Linux qua Linux, although others have already suggested WinE or VmWare. This suggests "ProTools" is not sufficiently specified to inquire further. XP. Duh. More audio software, presumably Windows-specific.
Not quite sure what this is. "The Industry's First Jazz & Big Band Library" is what the webpage touts. Dunno if it's just a large collection of big band and jazz records or what. More audio stuff. Hm. This looks like a hardware device. Actually, it's a number of hardware devices, from Boosta Grande to Freq Boost to Crusher, plus the DI-1000, and a few equalizers and other such. Why this would pose a problem to Linux is not clear at this time.

Requirements: Mac OSX 10.4 or WinXP Home or WinXP pro. More audio stuff. Supplied with dongle. And whose absolutely brain-numbingly stupid idea was it to install Linux on *working production studio equipment*? (Hints: 2-dimensional. Wet. Floppy.) That's what test and backup systems are *for*. Celerons are cheap. (In more ways than one. But this is presumably for a functional test only anyway.) -- Windows Vista. Because it's time to refresh your hardware. Trust us.
