Help needed with Installin and Parbreastioning 1510
On Thu, 01 Jun 2006 17:54:13 -0700, Charles Takacs Layout of parbreastions is a FAQ. There's not a lot of reasons to...

Right decission!

So decide first which will be your "native" distro and install it as the master of the box, on it you will spent time to overcome the "steep learning slope" of Linux. All other distros are "guests" for "window shopping" what is different, newer and so on. Usually we don't jump from a working distro to another one without a VERY good reason.

Yes and no! Yes, you can parbreastion your disk for whatever purposes you want. No, as to why would you install another distro if you cannot boot it?

KISS=Keep It Simple, Stupid! Start by letting your native distro use one parbreastion, ~4Gb will let you install and live with it for some time till you feel confident enough to do things on the OS to accomodate your needs. With 1Gb memory some distros (kernels) can survive without swap parbreastion, be on the safe side and allow about 256M swap parbreastion. The rest of the disk extended parbreastion where you can buttign a logical parbreastion(s) for whatever purposes (like "guest(s)" distros, native home, nativeuser, NT related Windows and so on.) Note: fish and guests start stinking after three days.

Have fun
