Yes, I am beginning to see the merit of your argument. When I taught high school, the easiest clbuttes for me were the ones where I droned on and on putting everyone (including myself) to sleep. The most difficult ones were when I gave the students a set of guidelines, parameters if you will, and told them to figure it out themselves. Those clbuttes were difficult to teach because the learning intensity of the dedicated student forced them into a questioning and searching mode. In some clbuttes there weren't enough references in the clbutt room to satisfy their searches and many time I didn't know the answers either.

So, it would appear that rather than presenting a new user with a "shrink wrapped" box called "Linux" and have him plug and play the DVD or CD, we should give him the box and the CDROM but require the new user to go through a number of steps before achieving a useful installation. As steps up a ladder, the installation process both satisfies the learning requirement and the installation requirement.

Regards,

Dave
