How do I install redhat nine without a swap parbreastionOn Thu, 25 May 2006 17:09:16 GMT, Greg Rozelle staggered into the Black Sun and said: You don't. You install something that's newer. Redhat 9's been EOLed for over 1.5 years, and it won't support your hardware if your hardware's new. Also, the more recent distros have fewer bugs and more features.
Redhat 9's installer may not be able to grok that, and it may force you to create a swap parbreastion, or a swap file on . The easiest way may be to force the stupid thing to install without swap, then add the swap file after the system's up and running. Using a swap file is easy, like so: Mac OSX file system support On Wed, 07 Jun 2006 08:10:17 -0600, Douglas Mayne staggered into the Black Sun and said: Yes, but HFS != HFS+ . (line inetc-fstab for the swap file on my desktop.) Of course, my swap file's on , which makes it easier. If your swap file is on another parbreastion, you'll have to make sure that that parbreastion is set to "auto" and that it's mounted before mount -a tries to do swapon for that file. Usually, that means "put the fstab line for the 'Doze parbreastion before the fstab line for the swap file". -- Matt GThere is no Darkness in Eternity-But only Light too dim for us to see Brainbench MVP for Linux Admin mail: TRAP + SPAN don't belong ----------------------------- penguins, is Tux." --MegaHAL
