this is getting way OT but it may also be appropriate to ask in this thread. a colleague of mine received a flyer written in Word which had astonishing features: when you open it in Word, instead of the usual toolbars with 'file', etc., you (also) get email header fields. in this case, they were filled in with the addresses the original party had used, including the BCC: field!!! you can modify the information in these fields. I didn't try to send it but I buttume it tries to invoke Outlook. How do they get any work done 231 On Tue, 24 Jan 2006 18:32:03 -0000, Harold Stevens staggered into the Black Sun and said: Yep, the fun was a big part of the... also I noticed when I opened it when my internet connection was off, that the icons were blank; on inspection I saw links to some site (indymedia), so the darn thing is linking to images on a remote site! we told the colleague about his visible BCC: data. I know this all has something to do with Windows's OLE mechanisms but this all struck me as way too bizarre! I am not a Windows user and the ones I know cannot speak knowledgeably about these things. it is truly frightening that one can open a document in Word and have such all-round security and privacy breaches! have you ever heard of this? google doesn't reveal much but I am not sure quite what search terms to use.
