OK, not to rain on your parade, but there are a few things where there's no good Linux solution. OCR, for one. The error rate of recent versions of ocrad and gocr is much, much higher than the error rate of a 5-year-old Windows engine on the same very clean test image. Accounting-tax software is another one. There's no "TurboTax (Linux)" or "Quicken (Linux)" out there, which tends to irritate some home and small business users. This situation will probably improve over time, though.

Then, of course, there's the problem of printers or scanners that have neither specs available nor binary-only CUPS filters-SANE backends. research before buying it. However, people are lazy, and many would rather walk into a store and buy the most attractive scanner they see than go Googling for 15 minutes and ask a salesperson, "Do you carry any of the scanners on this short list?"

There are a bunch of things that Linux does well. But there are still deficiencies. Find those deficiencies. Exterminate them. Profit!

I don't think I've seen anyone praising the Sony rootkit-on-CD anywhere. This may just be a function of the places I visit on the Net though.
