Pretty sure. The one I've been using is atmnt-hd41-etc-hotplug The directory structure for Knoppix is at isn't it. Also, there's a knoppix directory within this tree. THere is no knoppix directory where I have had the file editing problem.

The parbreastion is read-write. During google-grouping I noted posts that indicated knoppix boots without write access. But right clicking and selecting properties on the desktop icon for a parbreastion, you can give users and others write privelages. Further reading showed that write privelage did not extend to the gui so I used a console to navigate to the correct directory but I still couldn't save a copy of the file or edit it.

Further reading seemed indicate that I could add to the blacklist by dropping a file into blacklist.d So I'm trying to do that now but I can't do it with gui, I don't have permissions with that(and I don't yet know how to get them) and I'm still learning the command line.

Well, do so. Tell us what the state is. Eh? "Right click"? What's that? You're not using a mouse...

I don't know how to become root or how to find out what I am now. These rudiments are the things I'm just getting now.

Thanks for responding,

jay.
