No, but you can find out with "lsusb", which lists all devices on all USB ports that the kernel knows about. If this HP laptop has a model#, of useful advice about getting all of its pieces to work properly.
You copied and pasted that from what I wrote previously without understanding it. Try not to do that. If you don't understand something, *ask*! Or Read The Fine Manual. The command I wrote will only work if the SD reader is present as the third SCSI disk-like device on your system. This is obviously not the case, as you could've verified yourself by looking at the output from dmesg.

When SD readers integrated directly into machines first came out, there was a lot of stupidity because manufacturers didn't want to release specs. This integrated SD reader may be unsupported for that reason. So, t1x.arnold, post the relevant output ofsbin-lspci , and any output from dmesg that concerns the SD reader.
