Ahhh. Thanks for the pointer on posting.

Good information. Thanks.

You mentioned that, "... USB reader's SD slot is alwaysdev-sdc1 ...". My intent was to show that "always" was not the case.

I looked at dmesg, inserted my SD card, looked at dmesg again, and there was no new information.

Here's my lspci information:

Basic RAID concerns and Linux OS
In our small business, we have to hold onto gigs of data. And sadly, disgustingly, we don't have any good backup (periodic DVD burning when we can) and the PC...

And here are the last 20 lines of my dmesg:

ipconntrack version 2.4 (8192 buckets, 65536 max) - 232 bytes per conntrack SELinux: initialized (dev rpcpipefs, type rpcpipefs), uses genfscontexts Bluetooth: L2CAP ver 2.8 Bluetooth: L2CAP socket layer initialized Bluetooth: HIDP (Human Interface Emulation) ver 1.1 i2cdev entries driver eth1: no IPv6 routers present SELinux: initialized (dev autofs, type autofs), uses genfscontexts ppdev: user-space parallel port driver ppdev0: registered pardevice ppdev0: unregistered pardevice ppdev1: claim the port first ppdev2: claim the port first ppdev3: claim the port first drm Initialized drm 1.0.1 20051102 kjournald starting. SELinux: initialized (dev sda1, type ext3), uses xattr usb 4-5.1: USB disconnect, address 5

Any suggestions? Thanks. Tom
