Just want to share this piece of information. Two months ago I installed Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 which can be downloaded from Microsoft for free. I started using it to test MS Server 2003 which worked very well. I then found out that (redhat) linux is officially supported. I installed a whitebox linux onto it and it works like a charm.

So far no problems found.

I run a apache, mysql, run perl and php programs, use ssh and can access from my own laptop access the webserver on the virtual server!

Help with Samba
Hi, I am having problems getting Samba version 3.0101462 to authenticate against a Windows Server 2003 DC. I keep getting prompted for a pbuttword which I don't want. I appear to have joined the...

I have configured the Microsoft loopback interface. Now i can access the webserver even standalone. ( i used this in my holiday frequently).

I plan to do the same trick for other flavours of unix, I do not expect any problems there.

The only disadvantage is that the memory for the virtual server is allocated the moment you start it. The memory you configure for it is not usable on XP. The advantage is that you don't need additional parbreastions. You can allocated and resize easily and even remove the virtual server from XP with one click of the mouse.

I'm not a MS adapt, but this piece of softwar really made my life very easy.

Bo.
