I know these are the holidays, but we don't have that much free timeDzjeezes, there we go again... :- Agreed, the man has a few points, but most people here already know them and don't want to be botherd for the 2.356th time by it, or by ignoring those conversations. Also, some of the things are bullpoo, like the fact that 'real' users should not use a mouse or should spend more time outside our with their friends. I suspect it's more the other way around ;-) I like computer games, but I also like hanging out with my friends, so what user am I now? And if people want to user their box to run KDE on and other GUI stuff, just let them. Tolerance means you don't have to like it, but you still have to respect other peoples choices... BTW: I still use Windows for games! The Linux Revolution: What Happened 4329 Jeff Maybe I'm entirely arcane, but for me text interface is the only interface that gives... The Linux Revolution: What Happened 4330 As stated, "MS won't disclose specs". It is *Microsoft* that lags in interoperability, not Open Source. That's a Microsoft problem... Only because Microsoft has a monopoly on certain, but... Some people just don't want to fix or know how they can fine tune their engine, they just want to drive a little in their car, metaphorically speaking. This also creates work for the mechanics. Is there any to all of this? Wimmy PS: I know energy consumption might be an issue (I live about 1 KM from a powerplant where they burn 1.000.000 kilos of coal a day, for over 25 years), but it's not all computers and related HW that should be blamed. Do you turn of your PC at night to save power, or just leave it on because it's 'easier'? Or configure your ACPI-BIOS to save as much as possible. A guy calculated once how many coal gets burnt for every MB downloaded, and I think it was over 1 KG, it should be on the net somewhere but I can't find it. And some nations should should also take a look at the amount of fuel their car is using, or how much airco's they are havincompared to others. Hey, I'm just trying to make this more interesting ;-) -- +----------+ PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS +----------+ .-.-.. The Linux Revolution: What Happened 4328 Very interesting and intelligent discussion. That is of course the all important question: what is the point? Is the point to be "different" or to be "better". Just having...
