You mean 2.6.8-11? That's an amd64 kernel. That architecture is not fully supported in Stable, which must be where you got it since the other releases have...

I am TRYING as previously posted to get a camera to work via USB etc so that I can see it.

Now before I tried to get it to work better, it did at least appear on dev-sda? ..now it doesn't even do that.

It appears that the USB subsystem recognises it, but it never appears as a pseudo-scsi device anywhere..

It does appear as a USB device - lsusb reveals it when switched on.

I have upgraded and installed all latest hotplug-usbmount-udev-kernel stuff (Debian 2.6.8.11)

Can someone PLEASE tell me how all these systems interact?

It appears that the whole mess is a rapidly moving target..

For example, latest udevd won't run as a daemon - barfs with 'wrong kernel' ..should it?

I got them as both latest from debian sites.

It appears that hotplug isn't what it was - there is nosbin-hotplug file in what I have.

ALL I want to do is get a known SBUS mbutt storage device to automount to a fixed point depending on what its ID is.

I think I have found at least 7 different ways to do this, none of which work when applied to my system.

WTF is all this?

HELP!!!
