ISA SoundBlaster card with newer distributions 7071Jim Haynes ISA SoundBlaster card with newer distributions 7072 Dances With Crows Well, the box cost about $6000 in early 2000, and I do not feel like junking it just to get sound working. I did manage to get the stuff to work... I know all the addresses of the board (which is NOT an AWE64, but it IS pnp) that Windows XP Home uses; fortunately I can boot that machine up in Windows. But I cannot put them into theetc-modules.conf file because newer versions of Linux do not use that file, and I do not know if Linux uses the same PNP values as does Windows. The nearest thing is modprobe.conf and I do not really know its syntax. I have read its manual page, but I do not know what options to give it. options modulename option... This command allows you to add options to the module modulename (which might be an alias) every time it is inserted into the kernel: whether directly (using modprobe modulename, or because the module being inserted depends on this module. All options are added together: they can come from an option for the module itself, for an alias, and on the command line. So what ARE the options; i.e., their syntax?
