Installing Linux with nonbootable CD drive

Suggestions for a secure mailserver setup for a small group
Hi I am in charge of setting up a server for our group. The server in question...

Thanks, I'm trying to get it but the site is very slow and stalls a lot for some reason. Since there is so much mention of slackware and debian, I'm not sure if RH 7.1 is one of the places it will work.

When I first installed Linux on this machine, it had Windows running on it and I found I could put an old bootable Win 95 floppy in the floppy drive and boot Windows from it. It detected the CD drive and told me it was k:. I changed to k: and changed directory to dosutils and uttered the magic words: loadlin autoboot-vmlinuz initrd=autoboot-initrd.img and, behold, RedHat 7.1 installed itself and is now running on the machine. Unfortunately, installing RedHat 7.1 seems to have had the side effect that after booting from the floppy drive, it can no longer detect the CD drive. I have no idea why that should be so, but it is.

Well, I waited a long time and it still showed only 18 percent of 88k, so I stopped it.

and downloaded the source, binary and user guide for btmgr-3.7-1. I'll see how that works. -- Ignorantly, * Disclaimer: I am a guest and *not* a member of the MIT CSAIL. My actions and * comments do not reflect in any way on MIT. Also, I am nowhere near Boston.
