Installing Virtual PC on Linux 2981

I've been exchanging e-mail with them, the Pro version is due out any day now (the website says the 23rd but I suppose it could slip again). Up until recently I've never had any problem with the Win9x version. Intuit is forcing an upgrade to Quickbooks 2005 by discontinuing payroll support for QB 2002 on April 1st. I bought QB2005 and tried to install it. Quickbooks 2005 crashes on Win4Lin + Win98SE. I've even tried a completely clean Win98 install to eliminate the possiblity that the problem was a conflict with something else. I suspect that Intuit didn't even bother to test QB2005 on Win98 even though the box says it's compatible. Going forward it's likely that most Windows software manufacturers are going to cease their support for Win9x, they would be crazy not to. Win9x is a horrible bug ridden OS, it's got to be much more expensive to support an application on Win9x then on 2K or XP. Also the people who are still using Win98 have demonstrated that they are unlikely to be buying new software anytime soon. The bottom line is that I would wait a week or two before buying Win4Lin and the buy the Pro version. Personally I'm going to upgrade the second it becomes available. I expect that the Pro version will have a few bugs but I'm not worried about that because the Win4Lin people have always been very responsive to bug reports and they turn around fixes and provide work arounds in no time.
